Meling's eyes slowly opened, as the sound of her digital telephone awakened her. She sat up in her bed, her eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness of her luxury apartment. The phone continued to ring, as she glanced at the electroluminescent clock near her computer.
It read 3:45a.m. She didn't normally receive calls this time of morning. It could only mean one thing. It mean't that she had another assignment.
Hello," she said.
Her computer's tri monitor screens lit up ,casting a bluish light throughout the room. The sound of her voice activated the phone and another distorted voice quickly responded.
"His name is professor Toshiharu Ashigawa. He will be giving a speech this evening at 9:30 p.m. at the Polytechnic Institute. Make sure he doesn't leave alive."
"And exactly who are you?" Meling responded. "I'd like to know who I'm working for."
"Who we are is not important. The only thing that is important is making sure Ashigawa is neutralized."
"How much?"
"The sum of $100,000.00 has already been electronically transferred into your account Ms. Wong. We have also transferred encrypted files to you regarding Mr. Ashigawa. We advise you to study them carefully. We are certain that you will finish the job, and not make any mistakes."
"Mistakes are for amateurs, not professionals," Meling responded.
The phone deactivated itself, and her computer monitors closed, recasting her room back into darkness.
"Lights," Meling said, and the entire room became illuminated. She got out of bed and took a shower. After this she sat down on the floor and meditated for nearly an hour, before she began assembling her weapons.
Her weapon of choice would be the XQ7 sniper rifle with an extended clip and HV bullets. This would allow for maximum power and range. She had used the weapon in previous assignments, and it had never missed a beat. As a secondary weapon, she would also carry compression grenades and in the case of melee combat, a nano kitana.
