While Square-Enix might have put their version of Parasite Eve on the backburner (It was supposed to star Madonna as Aya Brea), the original writer of Parasite Eve Hideaki Satoh did manage to get the prequel to the video games series released on DVD.

For those of you that played Parasite Eve 1, remeber how Aya Brea had the Kidney transplant that later in the game made her immune from Eve's wrath? Well in the prequel it goes into detail of why that was possible.

The story starts out with Toshiaki, a well respected biologist at his university. He and his beautiful with Kyoumi are a cream couple. Toshiaki had just made a breakthrough using mitochondria on damaged liver cells to restore the liver and cultivate those cells. In layman's terms, he is able to restore the liver to its original form no matter how damaged the liver is.

Toshiaki's luck takes a turn for the worse when he learns that his beloved wife Kyoumi ran into a truck with loose construction beams and is almost declared brain dead. Later she has been discovered as a possible organ doner for this little 13yo girl whose body perfectly matches with hers (aka a compatible donor). A doctor discovers this and begs Toshiaki for the kidney of Kyoumi. Toshiaki is relectant to give the kidney to the doctor, but agrees under the condition that he must harvest a liver for Toshiaki. When Toshiaki takes Kyoumi's liver and harvastes it, the vial breaks and a women that looks like Kyoumi appears. However she addresses herself as Eve.

Fans of Parasite Eve 1 and 2 will not be disappointed with the DVD release. Parasite Eve has actually been out for awhile. It was released for the first time in the states on VHS in 2001, but now it is currently available on DVD.

The one thing I did not like about Parasite was that the police were not there. Realistically if all of the sudden burnt bodies appeared out of nowhere, someone would have already tried to call the police in order to stop this biological ordeal. Was everyone to burn to death while a naked lady when around barbaquing everyone? My thoughts exactly.
